How to set up multi-factor authentication for your Riot Games account

Keep your accounts safe!

Riot Games has expanded its multi-factor authentication (MFA) feature that players can use to secure their League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics, Valorant, and Wild Rift accounts.

The previous multi-factor authentication feature prompted players to enter a code when logging into their accounts on a new device. The feature has since been expanded such that players can now require a code to be entered each time they log in.

This electronic security measure is designed to make sure that the accounts’ real owners can log in without them becoming compromised. It adds another layer of security aside from requiring a user name and password.

Having an MFA can protect account owners’ private information such as their email address, personal address, and payment information.

  1. Log in to your account on the Riot Games website
  2. Open the account security settings
  3. Get the login code from your email
  4. Enter the login code
  5. Under the “two-part authentication is now available” tab, click on “Enable 2FA”

Riot Games is still planning to add new ways to make the MFA more convenient for players in the future, which may mean that a mobile authenticator app could eventually be introduced.
