As you may have noticed, Realme has 6 months gap in releasing new phones. But before you get confused– Realme C25 is in the C series which is placed in the “budget phone” category. It has distinct qualities over the past months which is why it is quite better than the Narzo phones. The Realme C25 has a gaming chipset, a large battery, and a 48MP camera. It is nearly a perfect device for me but it has 2 problems, read along.

Realme C25 Design

Budget phone

The color variant of the Realme C25 is Water grey and Water blue. Its design on the back has a geometric design and according to Realme, the back cover is processed using the industry-leading German five-axis precise radium engraving machine and undergone 300 minutes of polishing. That’s a lot of time focusing on just the design of the back, but still, it pays off since it is more appealing to the eye.

It is also comfortable to hold as it adds grip that prevents scratches and fingerprint smudges. Time will tell if the back will also be stained when putting a phone case. Meanwhile, Realme C25 weighs 209 grams which is quite heavy due to its big battery.

Around the frame, we have the power button, and the volume rocker on the right, on the left is the sim tray with dual nano sim slot and a dedicated slot for micro sd which is expandable up to 256GB. At the bottom, C25 has a headphone jack, microphone, a single firing speaker grille, and surprisingly a USB Type-C port for charging.

Display

Moving to the front it boasts a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD screen. the colors are good, sharpness is fine, and have great contrast. Although we are rooting for an FHD+ display as most budget phones nowadays are starting to adapt to the larger resolutions. But since it is a budget phone plus its battery is bigger meaning it is power-saving also.

Realme C25 also has a quite outdated dewdrop notch housing an 8MP Selfie Camera. The display’s color is more magenta but it is nearly true to life thanks to the IPS LCD. Meanwhile, the color temperature is at the cooler tone but you can adjust it in the settings menu to make it warmer.

Camera

The device consists of a triple-camera setup, 48MP f/1.8 main camera, 2MP Macro, and 2MP Depth Sensor. I really wish they equipped the Ultrawide lens rather than the Macro cam. And since it only has a triple cam, the led flash was placed 4th in the trendy square shape camera module.

The 48MP main cam outputs sharp, detailed, and has almost true to life colors. It doesn’t produce oversaturated images and there are no visible deeps blacks, even with HDR on and even shooting with different time and scene. Photos indoors with hdr off still outputs the same detailed and sharp images.

With HDR on, the colors are more vibrant and look pleasing to the eye. The good thing I notice about the process is the colors were preserved while balancing the overall exposure from highlights to shadows.

Normal mode

Shooting at low light, images are grainy and look blurry but still, it outputs good colors despite low ambient light. Once the night mode is on, the image is more saturated. It is also brighter with no visible softness but it is still grainy.

The depth sensor has good and accurate background separation. It really separates the subject and it gives a nice bokeh effect which is quite close to natural looking depth.

Realme C25 doesn’t have an ultrawide lens which is a bummer but it has a macro lens. The results are pretty good, colors are sharp and the image is detailed. Although it looks grainy especially on the bokeh and we can’t get any closer to the subject. Still it outputs a decent image despite the lack of flexibility.

Switching to selfies, it has an 8MP selfie camera and I like how it processes the skin tone color, it is true to life, it is detailed as well but somehow it looks like it has high sharpness, so the images look very crisp and I don’t know if my face is just sweaty or is it because of the sharpness. Also, blacks are quite deep but the balanced exposure when the hdr mode is on is very stunning and good looking. The subject to background separation is also good, it is not 100% perfect but most of the time it has high accuracy.

Performance

The Realme C25 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G70 with a 12nm process and it is paired with 4GB of ram and 128GB of storage. 4GB of ram we know is acceptable and the typical ram capacity in most devices right now. The upside on the Realme C25 is the 128GB of storage as you can install a lot of games.

For its software, out of the box it runs on Android 11.0 with Realme UI 2.0 on top. The latest Realme UI is much more smoother and responsive. The customization has wider options like picking an accent color and dark mode now has 3 options to choose from so you now have the freedom to choose.

Since it is a gaming chipset we did test the gaming capability of the Realme C25, surprisingly it can go HD graphics in PUBG but with 30fps only. Most lesser graphic games can go 60fps smoothly but when it comes to graphic demanding games like Mihoyo games and esports fps titles, the frames reduced to 30fps but gives higher visual graphics. Apparently, Realme C25 is great in gaming.

Battery

Realme C25 is very satisfactory as it is packed with a huge 6000mAh battery so gaming and browsing are non-stop and for the results, Realme C25 endured almost 10% of every hour of heavy task, thanks to slightly battery efficient chip and power-saving 720p screen. As for charging it has an 18W fast charge and it took 2hrs and a half to fully charge which is quite acceptable for the price.

Verdict

Overall for the starting price of P7,490 (4GB+64GB) and P8,490 (4GB+128GB), Realme C25 is another budget all-rounder device from Realme. It offers acceptable camera quality despite not having an ultrawide lens. But what’s good about the phone is again the huge 6000mAh battery, dual-band wifi, and better storage. The Realme UI 2.0 is packed with reliable features as well.

This device will last long even when gaming or browsing. so eyeing a budget overall device, Realme C25 should be on your list. But if you want a gaming-centric budget Realme phone, I suggest you go for the Narzo series instead as they focus mainly on gaming.
